Humanitarian Mine Clearing Vehicle Training

Coalescent Technologies was contracted to assist the U.S. Army, Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) to develop interactive training materials for the humanitarian Mine Clearing/Survivable Vehicle.

Tens of millions of land mines, anti-personnel mines, and unexploded ordinance remain operative long after armed military conflicts conclude, and pose great danger to the returning civilian populations in many countries throughout the world.

The detection and safe removal of "live" land mines (De-mining) presents a great technical challenge to all affected countries. The objective of the Humanitarian De-mining Program is to develop vehicles and technologies that can safely remove anti-personnel mines using specially modified, ruggedized commercial equipment.

Coalescent instructional system developers performed the training systems analysis, developed Operator and Maintenance procedures, and developed both video-based and computer-based instructional media for the experimental humanitarian de-mining equipment.
