US Marine Corps Expands Chemical Agent Monitor Maintenance Program
Orlando Florida, 5 September, 2008 – Coalescent Technologies announced today that the US Marine Corps has sponsored an additional $499,540 contract to Coalescent Technologies for the “Test, Evaluation and Repair of Chemical Agent Monitors (CAMs) and Automatic Chemical Agent Detector and Alarm (ACADA) equipment.” CAMs and ACADAs are maintained in the Marine Corps equipment inventory for military operations and homeland defense to provide detection and warning of complex chemical agents.
Coalescent Technologies maintains a highly specialized laboratory that performs depot-level refurbishment of sophisticated commercial equipment which are based on Ion Mobility Spectroscopy (IMS) technologies, which includes the Marine Corps CAMs and ACADAs. Coalescent’s lab has the full-service capability to repair and refurbish all electronic, pneumatic, chemical, physical, and digital components in IMS-based chemical detectors. With this service, Coalescent refurbishes the highly sophisticated Chemical Agent Monitors to “level A pack” condition, ready for issue to the operating forces. Refurbishment is performed at a fraction of the cost of new equipment, providing the military with considerable savings and the assurance that inventoried equipment is in proper operating order.
During 2008 the Coalescent IMS laboratory completed a planned upgrade with additional equipment and processes that increased the technical capabilities for both the CAM and ACADA equipment. Additionally, the IMS laboratory’s equipment, personnel and processes underwent and successfully completed a thorough Defense Department independent verification and validation
