Pennsylvania Guard, the first to use
Digital Deployed Training Campus (DDTC)

July 16, 2007 - The 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, out of Fort Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania, is slated to become the first unit to train with the Digital Deployed Training Campus (DDTC). DDTC will enable the 56th to incorporate multiple use programs that provide commanders with a wide variety of training and reach back capabilities specifically linked to the unit’s training requirements. This program is the first of its kind and brings training to Soldiers anywhere in the world, at anytime. Coalescent Technologies, a highly respected professional services, simulation and training firm, headquartered in Winter Park, Florida, provides program management and technical support to the program.

The DDTC system is multifaceted in its ability to transfer information. It allows commanders to train all aspects of their mission from any location in the world that has satellite coverage. Some of the training systems provided by DDTC include Sniper Training, TRADOC school access, Virtual Teletraining (VTT), Marksmanship Training, and critical individual Soldier Training. To couple the training systems, the DDTC can also transfer information by teleconferencing. There is capability of voice over IP for up to 24 users. There is also a database that allows acquisition, storage, and distribution of high quality video.

Coalescent’s Project Manager Bob Eastman said this about the system, “The DDTC’s capabilities are endless because it makes valuable information available to our forces anywhere and anytime. A unit serving in Baghdad, Iraq can brief and forward real time information with graphics, videos, and photos to their replacement unit stationed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There is true significance in knowing valuable information can be passed on without pertinent facts getting lost in the shuffle.”

Today’s battlefield is constantly changing, and the side with the most current information has the advantage. The DDTC utilizes that understanding with the system’s versatile training capabilities, and is poised to become a leader in Soldier Training Technology. The future of the 56th Stryker Brigade is not set in stone, but their potential could not be more solid with their forthcoming training with the DDTC.
