Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS)
Laboratory Opens in Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida, August 1, 2006 - Coalescent Technologies announced today the “Official Opening” of a certified, cutting-edge, Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) laboratory in Orlando Florida. The lab began construction in February 2006, and received final certification by regulatory agencies in late July.

This new operational laboratory is designed and equipped for the continuing research, development, and maintenance of extremely sophisticated Chemical agent detectors and monitoring equipment used by the Department of Defense, Homeland Defense, and First Responder organizations.

IMS lab operations begin with a large-scale effort for the Marine Corps to perform the analysis, maintenance, refurbishment, and re-certification of Chemical Agent Monitors and Detectors. Next, Coalescent intends to expand these in-house technical capabilities to other related equipments that use this IMS technology.

The highly equipped lab is maintained with state-of-the-art spectrometers, chemical and biological laboratory equipment, specialized digital electronic test equipment, proprietary tools and test fixtures, and maintains appropriate certification by state and federal regulatory agencies.

Regarding this achievement, Ken Whitmore, President and CEO, remarked: “The IMS lab, which is dedicated to the research and maintenance of chemical detection equipment, marks a milestone in the U.S. as the only independent lab today having this unique focused capability. We are confident that this capability provides our customers with a cost-effective maintenance solution that does not otherwise exist at this level of comprehensive expertise.”
