Orlando, FL. February 17, 2006
– Coalescent
Technologies Corporation announced
today that it is completing the
development of an Information
Operations (IO) module for the
Virtual Battlefield System 1 (VBS1™)
synthetic environment training and
mission rehearsal tool. This module
will be interoperable with other
existing VBS1™ add-on modules and is
designed to help train and practice
proper decision making actions taken
to affect adversary information and
information systems while defending
one’s own information and
information systems, in accordance
with the Joint doctrine for IO
contained in JP 3-13.
Recognizing, processing, protecting, and exploiting relevant information is a critical skill for success on the battlefield, in the Global War on Terror (GWOT), and in responses to natural and/or national emergencies. The relevancy of IO training is independent of the level of conflict, the severity of the disaster response, or the seniority of the trainee. Even down to the tactical level, our troops and first responders operate in an information-rich and information-dependent environment. Awareness and practice helps build the decision-making skills needed to make the correct decisions, properly understand and prioritize the information, and ensure vital data is not overlooked of delayed getting where it needs to be. The goal is to maintain information superiority, meaning that our information is faster, more accurate, and more comprehensive than the adversary’s, whether that adversary is an opposing military or terrorist force or time wasted in effectively responding to a natural disaster.
